Hidden in Plain Sight Trailer
This hands-on learning opportunity focuses on alcohol and tobacco use to current trends in the abuse of other drugs such as cannabis synthetic and “designer” drugs, opiates, cocaine, amphetamine-type stimulants, hallucinogens, and prescription drugs.
Protect Your Brain
Did you know your brain is growing through your mid-twenties? Drinking before it’s fully developed can do permanent damage. Alcohol always has short-term effects on the brain, like impairing judgment and coordination, but it can also have longterm consequences.
The Alcohol & Mental Health Connection
Underage alcohol use is tied to more than academic and social problems for youth. Teens may turn to alcohol to help them manage difficult feelings or high stress levels. However, adolescent brains are still developing, and drinking alcohol underage can quickly have problematic results.
Meetings & Minutes
Our coalition is a collaborative group of substance use professionals, law enforcement, educators, parents, local business owners, healthcare professionals, youth, and any other individuals who are wanting to make a difference in our community and the lives of youth. We discuss ways to help educate and spread the word about the harmful effects of drugs and ways we can reduce the amount of drugs in the hands of teenagers.
The Coalition Meets Every Month on the Fourth Tuesday at 4:30PM both in person at the Will County Sheriff Office (16911 W Laraway Road, Joliet IL 60433) and via Zoom. Learn More.
