  • Treasurer – Loren Yaksich – Financial Report
    • Addition of $3000 for Shop with a SWAT
    • Report Approval: Sam Castro motions, Tim Cramer second
    • May need reapprove treasurer report next month due to lack of quorum (Nov and Dec)
  • Secretary – Aishwarya Balakrishna – Approval of November minutes as well as October revised minutes
    • October revised minutes: Tim Cramer motions, Peter Conser second
    • November minutes: Tim Cramer motions, Peter Conser second
    • May need reapprove meeting minutes next month due to lack of quorum (Oct revised, Nov, and Dec)

WCSAPC Requirements:

  • DFC Grant Report – Courtney Garfield
    • No new updates
  • CADCA Training in Jan./Feb. 2022
    • Caitlin, Aishwarya, Courtney, Sheree, and Brittany are attending
    • Still unsure of cancellation/modifications due to COVID-19 surge

  • Alcohol – Brittany Gruver
    • No meeting today, will resume meeting after the holidays
  • Marijuana – Sgt. Robert Platos
    • Did not meet today, no updates
  • Nicotine – Caitlin Daly
    • Did not meet in December, will meet again January 20th at 1:30PM on Zoom
  • Social Media – Jackie VanOvermeiren
    • Jackie is not on the meeting
    • Courtney updated on Jackie’s report: 7 new following on IG, 5 new likes on FB
    • Need new ideas for social media: Winter updates, celebration of life are current theme ideas, but more are needed
    • Tim will send Courtney some ideas
    • Anyone with ideas can send them to Courtney or Jackie
  • Care Team Updates – Sgt. Robert Platos
    • No updates, trailer has been winterized
    • Event planned for Feb/March time outside of the county
  • Illinois Youth Survey (IYS) Update – Dr. William McCarty
    • McCarty is not on the meeting
    • Need to start talking to schools about IYS to get them to fill it out in 2022
    • As of Dec 20th, multiple schools on board
    • Still trying to get Joliet schools on board (High schools and middle schools)
      • WCHD has contact with these schools through the Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) program – will reach out to them regarding IYS participation
    • Sam Castro has sent school tracking info to Peter Sullivan; she will follow up with him

    • They will join the next meetings and hopefully more students can be recruited

    • Two more weeks left, 9&10, plus 11th week for evaluations
    • Will do it again in the following school year
  • Adopt a Family
    • Very successful! Each child got a bunch of toys and clothes, and family also got a bunch of gifts!

Drug-Free Communities Definition of a Coalition:

A community-based formal arrangement for cooperation and collaboration among groups or sectors of a community in which each group retains its identity, but all agree to work together toward a common goal of building a safe, healthy, and drug-free community.
