- Call to Order/Welcome
- President McGinnis called the April 2021 meeting of the Will County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition to order at 4:33 pm
- Pledge of Allegiance
- Kaylaa McGinnis led the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
- Introductions
- Kaylaa McGinnis welcomed members and introductions were made on Zoom and in-person.
- Officer Reports
- Treasurer – Loren Yaksich presented the April financial report from the United Way. A motion was made by Diane DeVries and seconded by Bonnie McPhillips to approve the report. Motion approved.
- Secretary – Candace Gunby asked for approval of the March minutes. A motion was made by Chief Jungles and seconded by Chief Lemming to approve the report. Motion approved.

- Bonnie McPhillips reported that the new coordinator and educator have signed up for the virtual CADCA training. If anyone is interested in attending the virtual CADCA conference, contact Bonnie McPhillips.

- DFC Grant Report
- Subcommittee/Action Team Reports
- Alcohol: Kaylaa McGinnis reported that there is a need for more participation in the committee. The logic model will be revamped and updated.
- Marijuana—Chief Terry Lemming reported that the committee has created objectives for their four goals. There will be no marijuana subcommittee meeting in May.
- Nicotine – Caitlin Murray reported that the subcommittee finalized some survey questions for the tobacco retailer, that were reached last year, for feedback.
- Social Media— Jackie Van Overmeiren reported an increase in social media engagement. The HIPS trailer promo video has been posted on the sheriff department Facebook page, which led to a lot of views. A YouTube channel will be created for the coalition. Chief Jungles reported that the WCSO app has been released on all app stores and it has a direct link to the coalition website on it.
- CARE Team— Sgt. Robert Platos reported that the HIPS trailer will be having a training event in May. The HIPS trailer will be at some of the festivals occurring this summer.
- Illinois Youth Survey (IYS): no report
- Sector Reports & Sharing: Loren Yaksich reported that the sector representative agreements have been completed and the leader will of the sector will need to sign an agreement.

- Law Enforcement Agency: Chief Terry Lemming reported that there is new legislature will decrease the penalty for meth, cocaine, heroin drug use is going to the senate. It has a good chance at passing.
- Media: Diane DeVries reported that the snapchat campaigns (alcohol, tobacco, marijuana) have started in April. There will be a report on the success of the campaigns given next month.
- Organizations Focusing on Substance Abuse: Tim Cramer will be joining the alcohol committee

- No Mercy Youth Event
- This event is to reengage youth and parents. The coalition will be collaborating with a youth sports nonprofit (No Mercy) to survey the parents and do a social media video challenge with the youth. Date: May 21, 2021, Time: 6-8p, Place: Mission Bible Church—748 Jones Road, Minooka

- Gloria Bloodsaw reported that the Gateway Foundation is filling a substance abuse counselor position at the Joliet office and the new office in Skokie has gone from virtual to in-person sessions
- Joliet Family Fun Fest occurring in September at the Slammers Baseball field

- Chief Jungles moved and Wendy Hill seconded that the meeting be adjourned. Motion approved. The meeting was adjourned at 5:12pm.
